The Kaabirer Factory processes coffee grown at elevations up to 1,900 meters above sea level. Initially, the cooperative grew to include 1,500 members. Today, 950 active farmers deliver cherry to the wet mill, managing small plots averaging 300 coffee trees each – often intercropped with subsistence crops, promoting biodiversity and farmer self-sufficiency.

Today, more than 600,000 smallholders farming fewer than 5 acres compose 99% of Kenya's coffee farming population. Their farms cover more than 75% of total coffee growing land and produce nearly 70% of the country's coffee. These farmers are organized into hundreds of Farmer Cooperative Societies (FCS), all of which operate at least one factory.
In April 2020, the Nandi County Government distributed coffee seedlings to farmer cooperative societies across Tinderet, Emgwen, and Aldai sub-counties. Kaabirer was among the beneficiary cooperatives in Tinderet Sub-county, alongside Kapkiyai, Kibukwo, and Kabunyeria, strengthening the coffee sector and increasing productivity.
